Klub Kitanda — Listing Policy
Last updated: 28 August 2026 · Version 2.0
This is the deal for anyone who lists an event on Klub Kitanda. It is short on purpose. When you create a vendor account you agree to it, and it is what we point at when we take something down.
Listing is free and we take no cut of your ticket money.
What you're agreeing to
By creating a vendor account and publishing on Klub Kitanda, you agree that:
- Everything you publish is true — the date, the start time, the venue, the price, the ticket link.
- You are actually running the event, or you are authorised by whoever is.
- You have the right to every image you upload, including the poster.
- If your event is 18+, you mark it 18+.
- You will not publish anything on the not-allowed list below.
- If something changes — new date, sold out, cancelled — you update it the same day.
- We can correct, unpublish, suspend or remove what breaks this policy, as set out under "If something goes wrong".
That's the whole agreement. The rest of this page explains it.
Who can list
Approved vendors. Sign up in the app, and a human reviews your account — usually within a day, and usually with a phone call to the number you gave us. We are checking that you are a real business or a real crew running real events. Once you're approved you publish your own listings directly: no per-event queue, no waiting on us, live the moment you hit save.
Us. We also list events we find announced publicly, with credit to the organiser and a link back. If one of those is yours and you want it changed or taken down, say the word.
Everyone else. No account and don't want one? Email info@klubkitanda.co.ke with the event and we'll list it for you. Send it in English, Kiswahili or Sheng — a human reads every one.
We list selectively in the lanes we control. Being turned down is not an accusation; it's an editorial call.
What we check before approving an account
Nothing personal, we do it for everyone:
- You are reachable. We call the number on the account. If it doesn't answer, nothing moves.
- The business is real — a name, an address, a venue or a track record we can find. A KRA PIN helps and is optional.
- You've run something before, or you can tell us what you're running and where. First-timers are welcome; vague ones aren't.
If we say no, you get the reason, and it isn't permanent. Fix the thing, write to us, and we'll look again.
Getting a listing right
- The date and start time must be true. This is the hard line. A wrong start time is the one mistake that costs somebody their night.
- The venue must be real, and must have agreed to host you. An actual venue and area — not "secret location, DM for pin".
- The price must match your poster, or say it's free. No surprise gate fees that aren't on the listing.
- The ticket link must open, and go to a proper ticketing platform (Mookh, TicketSasa, HustleSasa, LipaTix, TurnApp, or your own established page). No shortened links — bit.ly and the rest are what scammers use, so a link we can't see through comes down.
- Mark 18+ if it's 18+. The caveat shows on the listing so people know before they plan their night. We don't check anyone's ID — the venue does — so the marker on the listing is the only warning anybody gets. Leaving it off is one of the fastest ways to lose an account.
- One listing per event. Duplicates get merged or removed.
- Write it like it's for a stranger, because it is. Clickbait, fake urgency, invented line-ups and "featuring TBA who is definitely coming" are all misleading listings, and misleading listings come down.
What we won't list
- Events that aren't real, aren't confirmed, or that you're not the one running
- Anything where the ticket money can't be traced — no "pay this Till and DM me", no shortened links
- Events with no fixed venue, or a venue that hasn't agreed to host you
- Anything illegal, or an event with no licence where one is needed
- Hate speech, harassment, or anything targeting people for who they are
- Anything sexually explicit; anything sexualising minors — that one gets reported to the authorities, not just refused
- Violent or graphic content in a poster or a description
- Drug sales, weapons, unlicensed gambling, MLM and get-rich schemes dressed up as an "event"
- Alcohol promotions. A listing can carry an 18+ note and say the venue serves drinks — but it cannot BE an alcohol promotion: no drinks-brand promotional posters, no "free shots" or "bottomless" copy, nothing Kenya's Alcoholic Drinks Control Act (Part VI) prohibits. Publishing someone else's prohibited drinks promotion is an offence for us as the publisher, so this one is checked, not assumed — send us the clean poster.
- Political rallies and campaign events
- Fundraisers where we can't tell where the money goes
- Posters carrying someone else's artwork, photos or music without their permission
- Impersonating another organiser, venue or vendor
- Events outside Nairobi — for now. We'll get there.
There is no tolerance here for objectionable content or abusive users. The list above isn't a negotiation: content that crosses it comes down, and the account that posted it is handled under the enforcement ladder below — up to and including removal.
The poster and your images
By uploading an image you're telling us you have the right to it, and giving us permission to use it to list and promote your event — in the app, on your event's page, and on our Instagram and WhatsApp channel.
We won't sell it, won't remove your watermark, and won't slap our logo over your designer's work. If you don't own the poster, don't upload it — we'll list the event with our own artwork instead, which is honestly fine.
If you hold the rights to something we've published and want it removed, email info@klubkitanda.co.ke. We remove first and discuss afterwards, within 24 hours.
Reports, and the 24-hour promise
Anyone using the app can report a listing in one tap — venue not as advertised, a safety concern, a scam, or something else.
You can also hide every listing from any organizer, straight from the same sheet — the hide is instant, happens on your own phone, and needs no report and no reason.
Every report is reviewed and actioned within 24 hours. Actioned means we verify the listing and leave it up, we correct it, or we take it down. A reported wrong date is treated as true until we've checked it, so the listing comes down first and gets verified afterwards. Scam reports jump the queue.
We'll tell you what came in and what we did about it. Nobody loses an account over one report from one stranger — but a pattern of them is a pattern.
If something goes wrong
One ladder, and we start at the bottom rung every time:
- We correct it, or unpublish it. Wrong date, wrong price, dead ticket link, missing 18+ marker. Usually a message to you and it's fixed the same day. Your other listings are untouched.
- We suspend the account. For a repeated pattern, or a single serious breach — a scam, a fake event, someone else's artwork after being asked, an 18+ event published as all-ages. Suspension takes every listing you own out of the app and off the web pages immediately, and you can't publish while it stands. We email you the reason.
- We remove the account. For deliberate deception, anything targeting people for who they are, anything sexualising minors, or a suspension you tried to dodge with a second account. Some of these we also report to the authorities.
We skip straight to rung 2 or 3 when people are being put at risk. That's the only time we skip.
Corrections and appeals
Think we got it wrong? Email info@klubkitanda.co.ke from the address on your account, with what happened and why you think it's a mistake. A human reads it — usually the same human who made the call — and answers within two working days.
If we were wrong, we say so, put your listing back, and lift the suspension the same day. If we weren't, you get the reason in plain words, and what would have to change.
Nothing here stops you taking a complaint further. If it's about your personal data, the Privacy Policy says how to reach the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.
Once you're live
- You get your event's own link — use it as your link in bio. It has the poster, the date, the map and the book button, which is more than a raw ticket URL gives you.
- Anything changes — new date, sold out, cancelled — update it the same day. Cancelling matters most: someone is already planning around it.
- We'll show you your numbers — how many people saw your event and how many saved it. Free, and nobody else gives you those.
Usilale. Publish the next one.
Listing is subject to our Terms & Conditions. What we do with your details is in the Privacy Policy — short version: we use them to review your account and talk to you about your events, your company name and Instagram handle go on your listings, and your phone number, email, address and KRA PIN are never published.
Klub Kitanda lists events. We do not sell tickets and we are not the organiser — booking, entry and refunds are between you and whoever sold you the ticket.
Poster artwork belongs to the organiser and is shown with credit. If you hold the rights and want it removed, email info@klubkitanda.co.ke and it comes down.
